Funeral Rallies

February 8, 2006

Democrats need to stop using funderals as a chance to fire up their base.

Remember the Paul Wellstone funeral in 2002? That’s a seat we should have held, but apparently one reason Norm Coleman coasted to victory over Mondale is we turned the funeral ceremony into a rally.

If you don’t know what I speak of:

It doesn’t appear to have been nearly as bad as the Wellstone incident, and the election isn’t so close. Thankfully. But honestly, I don’t think a funeral is ever the time to lash out against some political opponent.
